Lightworx have recently completed their latest music video promo, ... this time for Finnish gothic rock outfit To/Die/For with 97 visual effects shots completed in four weeks.

With a completely bluescreen shoot supervised by Andrew Dymond, Lightworx tracked, keyed, designed and built the 100% virtual set with the prior knowledge that it had to be destroyed piece by piece.

Designed and constructed by Pete Draper with additional assets produced by Chris Harnwell, the environment’s destruction process had to be realistic, yet easy to control due to the short turnaround for the entire project. Realised in 3ds max and Lightworx’s own custom scripts, the entire destruction process complete with virtual dust, dirt and debris was choreographed and shot with virtual cameras closely following existing camera work used in the live shoot. Lightworx also composited the final plates and designed the finished colour pass and grade in Combustion before passing the final composited footage to the online editors.
